Beginner Princess Hair

I was sent a link from my sister-in-law to a blog about doing little girl hair http://www.princesshairstyles.com/. I have been floating around the internet the last couple of days in a world I didn’t even know existed, ha ha. Here is our beginner attempt at princess hair.

I started by making a part in a circle around her head. The hair on the inside I twisted in a clip to keep out of the way. Next I parted the outer circle in the middle at the top and made two small ponies on either side of her face.

I continued making small ponies around the outside of her head, forming a puffy braid from the top of her head to the bottom on either side. I was left with two small pigtails hanging down on either side of the bottom of her head.

I combed all of the hair in the middle into a pony in the middle of the back of her head and included the hair from the end of the puffy braids. Then I turned the back pony into a pull through. This style was very easy, since I didn’t do any actual braiding. It took about 10 min.

Voila! A Princess!

Storm Clouds

A storm was rolling in today at sunset. I have a feeling it might mean snow, but the clouds were amazing! This panoramic photo doesn’t do them justice. Click here for a larger image.

Digital Scrapbooking Resources

Here are some of the main resources I use when creating digital pages. For all of you who ask me what they are I’m putting everything here with links to make it easy.

Wellstyled.com: There are many versions of software/programs that combine the basic color wheel with features for web design or creating color schemes. This is the one I use the most. Poke around with it and try out all of the options. The hex values are provided but they are based on a red-yellow-blue wheel; when these hex values are converted to RGB (such as in photoshop) the colors may vary slightly. You can also choose colors from your pages and copy their hex values into the wheel to set as the base color. http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html

Colorschemer.com: I discovered this color scheme gallery from a Mac widget. I think there are over a thousand. I’m not sure if there is a widget for windows, but here is the link to the site. (I don’t know why but I love this thing. Lets say inspirational.) http://www.colorschemer.com/schemes/

Designfruit.com: You can make brushes or buy them from almost anywhere. Here are some free ones that are beautiful and little out of the ordinary. ie, tatoo brushes. Wow. I believe the .png files are free and you have to pay for the vector images, but all you need is the .png files. http://www.designfruit.com/jasongaylor/blog/?cat=4

Links: Here are some of the sites I frequent most often to shop or browse the galleries. designerdigitals.com scrapgirls.com digitalscrapbooking.com

Another great (maybe obvious) resource is adobe.com and other sites that have photoshop tutorials. Invest some time and see what you can really do with the software. These sites have instructions for every feature or function of photoshop, as well as hours of video tutorials on ways to use them. http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials.html http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop

As I think of more free resources on the web I will add them. Poke around for yourself, there are lots of free brushes and other things.

Cody’s Tumblelog

I added a new link today to Cody’s tumblelog. It is his new blog and I like it and he has lots of fascinating things to say so I’m going to make you click here and go there. Whooh. take a breath. Ok, now check it out.

Above the City

Downtown Lethbridge taken from the top of the BLT building 4th Ave South.

It’s who you know. Larry at my office building allowed me and Cody up on the roof to take some pictures of the downtown. That day it rained and rained but fortunately stopped long enough to take some pictures. Click on photos to see more pictures of downtown Lethbridge.
