Deoderant

Ingredients:

¼ cup Baking Soda
¼ cup Arrow Root Powder
2 tsp Zinc Oxide Powder
5 tbsp Coconut Oil
30 drops Essential Oil Blend

Directions:

Combine Baking Soda, Arrow Root Powder and Zinc Oxide in a glass bowl and mix. Mix essential oils with coconut oil. Use 10 drops clary sage oil, 10 drops calendula oil, and 10 drops tea tree oil. Start with about 4 tbsp Coconut Oil and work into a paste. Add more Coconut Oil until desired consistency is achieved. Put into sanitized container and allow to harden. Use as needed.


Tallow Blend Soap

Ingredients:

44 oz. Beef Tallow
20 oz. Olive OIl
20 oz. Coconut Oil
12 oz. Lye Crystals
32-34 oz. Cold Water

Directions:

Add lye to cold water, bring to 115 degrees. Melt oils and bring to 110 degrees. Add lye mixture to fats and stir until trace. Add fragrance color etc and pour into mold.
Notes:
For a slightly softer bar for cutting, or if using untried fragrance oils, increase water to 34 oz.


Oatmeal Honey Soap

Ingredients:

4 cups Cold Water
12 oz. Lye Crystals
2 oz. Beeswax
64 0z Lard
12 oz. Olive Oil
8 oz. Coconut Oil
4 oz. Cocoa Butter
2 tbsp Honey
1 cup Oatmeal, Pulverized
1-2 tbsp Cinnamon Oil

Directions:

Pulverize oatmeal with a blender until fine, then measure one cup and set aside. Add lye to cold water, bring to 100 degrees. Melt fats and beeswax and bring to 95 degrees. Add lye solution to fats, stir until thin trace. Add honey, cinnamon oil, and oats and bring to medium trace. Pour into mold.
Notes:
This recipe can be made simpler by removing the beeswax and cocoa butter. Add 1 1/2 cups pulverized oatmeal for more scrub.


Castile Shampoo (not from scratch)

Ingredients:

1 bar Castile Soap 5%
¼ cup Olive Oil
½ cup Distilled Water

Directions:

Grate 1 bar of Castile soap and blend with enough water to make a pudding consistency. Add Olive oil and water and blend thoroughly. Add one to two drops essential oil if desired.


Castile Soap

Ingredients:

12 oz. Cold Water
6 oz. Lye Crystals
27 ½ oz. Olive OIl
8 oz. Palm OIl
8 oz. Coconut oil

Directions:

Add lye to water and heat to 115 degrees. Combine oils and heat to 110 degrees. Add lye mixture to oil mixture and stir or hand blend until trace. Add Fragrance or color and pour into molds or flat tray. Water content will determine how firm the bars will be in 24 hours.
To make Lemon Verbena Castile soap, scent with 2oz Lemon Verbena FO, color with yellow candle dye and add 1T dried dill weed for texture.
Notes:
This recipe has slightly more Palm and Coconut Oil than traditional castile soap, but offers better lather and finish.
